Exercising In The Morning? You Should Be Doing It

There are many reasons why exercising in the morning is a great idea for a lot of people, myself included.

I find that life gets in the way if I wait to exercise later in the day so exercising in the morning is best for me. And that is the case for a lot of people.

The Research

Research also shows that morning exercise may be more apt to become a sustainable habit. A study done by the Southwestern Health Institute in Phoenix showed that 3 out of 4 people who exercised in the morning were still exercising a year later. However, only half of those who waited till midday to exercise were still exercising a year later.

A Couple Of Tips To Stay Motivated

Need a little help motivating yourself to exercise first thing in the morning? Put out your exercise clothes and put your shoes right by your bed so you step right into them in the morning. Also, have your water bottle ready in the fridge. Suit up and grab the bottle and go out the door! You’ll be halfway through your workout before your brain kicks in!
Still not motivated? Then go out and get yourself a Siberian Husky! Siberians are high energy dogs that need a lot of exercise and they never sleep beyond 6AM. They will pester you until you get your butt out of bed and you head out the door for a morning walk or run.

Imagine trying to say no to this guy. I can’t. He’s been my wake up call for the past 7 years and I’ve never missed a morning walk or run.

    I could not agree with you more. Workouts in the morning are the best way to start my day. I don’t have a beautiful Husky but I try to coordinate a workout buddy. If someone is at the gym, pool, or running location waiting for me I am definitely not going to let them down:-)

    • Colleen you are so right. Having a workout buddy is not only motivation but it makes it way more fun!
