New Beginnings: Setting nutrition goals for Spring

Spring is here and it’s a great time to set nutrition and wellness goals and get ready for summer.  I’m willing to bet that a lot of you made New Year’s Resolutions regarding nutrition and I’m also betting a lot of you  let those go by the wayside. Not to worry! Life is all about getting back on course!  As a musher that is one of my main objectives whenever I go out to train with my dogs.  It’s also what I strive for on my own path to wellness.  If I find myself getting off track and eating foods that zap my energy or make me feel lousy, I pull myself back on course. It’s all part of the journey and now that I recognize that I don’t give up and quit when I go off course.  A plane flying from California to Honolulu goes off course 90% of the trip. But with the corrections from the pilot and instruments, all those planes making the trip arrive at their destination! The same thing goes for us. All we have to do is determine our destination and then head for it regardless of the detours or interruptions that come along.  I love getting back on track by using a quick detox. Detoxing for me is a useful tool and I teach various versions of  that in my nutrition classes. The Kripalu Yoga Resort has a great website with some good links dedicated to healthy eating.  Here is a link to several videos they have compiled. These can serve as a nice refresher of information you may have forgotten if you were a participant in one of my nutrition classes. They may also serve as a new incentive to get things started this spring.  The short clips cover: Building a Healthy Salad; Supplements; Healing Foods; Healthy Digestion; Detox and Vitamin D.

I encourage you to view one or all of these videos and use them as a learning tool so you can improve your health and your life.  Here is the link:
