A Musher’s Quest. How You Can Help

The Yukon Quest: The Toughest Race On Earth

The Yukon Quest is billed as “the toughest race on earth.” It is a 1000 mile sled dog race between Whitehorse, Yukon Territory and Fairbanks, Alaska. To qualify to run the Quest a musher must complete several 200 to 300 mile races with a respectable finish.

On Feb. 2nd, 2013 Rob Cooke and his Shaytaan Siberian Huskies will be running in the 1000 mile Yukon Quest having completed his qualifying races last year.

Jjay Levy and her Siberian team will be running the Yukon Quest 300, using it as a qualifier for the 1000 mile Quest which she hopes to complete in the future as the first musher to do so from North Carolina.

Needless to say, the journey to the starting line for both of these mushers is a long and expensive one and donations from friends, family and supporters are always greatly appreciated.

Here is where you can help Rob and Jjay.

Rob was very kind and supportive of me when I entered the Can Am 30 in 2011. As a recreational musher with only 4 dogs I lacked the required 6 dogs necessary to enter the race. So Rob offered to lend me 2 of his dogs and as a result I was able to accomplish my goal. This year Rob will advance to the starting line of the Yukon Quest hoping to accomplish his goal and I would like to help him raise some needed funds to cover some of the cost incurred during this Quest.

Jjay is a young woman I met at a race a few years ago. Her dream is to be the first musher from North Carolina to complete both the Yukon Quest and the Iditarod. This year she leaves her family behind to work and train in the Yukon Territory with the intention of completing her qualifying races so that next year she can be at the point Rob finds himself this year.
