Crock Pot Applesauce. No Sugar. Simple. Healthy. Delicious.

Chunky Crock Pot Applesauce with No Sugar.

Chunky Crock Pot Applesauce with No Sugar.

Two of my main criteria for cooking are: I like things healthy and I like things simple.
That’s what drives me in the kitchen.

Because of that, I’ve become a great fan of the Crock Pot. It’s a great way to save time and keep things simple.

One of my favorite Crock Pot Dishes is Homemade Applesauce. I never buy store-bought applesauce. It doesn’t do a thing for me but a homemade batch out of the crock pot tastes like a luxurious treat with lots of possible uses.

Here is my very simple Slow Cooked Applesauce Recipe.

Slow Cooked Applesauce

  • Peel and core as many Granny Smith apples as you would like to fill your Crock Pot.
  • Add 2 or 3 sweeter apples like Red or Golden Delicious or Gala.
  • Sprinkle the apples with the juice of 1 lemon.
  • Sprinkle with cinnamon.
  • Slow cook on low for several hours until the apples can be stirred into sauce. I like mine chunky so I use a wooden spoon to stir the sauce rather than mashing them or using a sieve.
  • Serve warm and sprinkle with walnuts to get an added boost of Omega III’s and to trick your brain into feeling full.
  • The sauce is a great snack by itself or as a great topping for my favorite Buckwheat Banana Pancakes.

Give it a try! Once you do you will never buy store-bought applesauce again!
