Easy Balsamic Salad Dressing

Vinaigrette

The Benefit of Homemade Vinaigrette
Making your own vinaigrette salad dressing is a great way to ensure that there is no added High Fructose Corn Syrup in your dressing. HFCS is a very popular, unhealthy ingredient in salad dressings because it is so cheap. It is also linked to many health issues and to weight gain because it sends messages to our brain that we need to keep eating more. So stay away from HFCS. Consider it the F word in nutrition. Instead, consider making your own dressing! It’s easier than you think. Just blend the simple ingredients together and you’re done! Check it out.

Orange Balsamic Vinaigrette Recipe
This very flavorful salad dressing is very easy to make. It comes from The Whole Life Nutrition Cookbook. The recipe calls for fresh fennel but since I am not a fan of fennel I eliminated that.

My comments are in {brackets}.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup orange juice {no added sugar}
  • 3 Tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 Tablespoon balsamic vinegar.
  • 1 Tablespoon chopped fresh fennel tops {Optional}
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Place all ingredients in a small bowl and whisk together. Voilà!

    This dressing goes very well with a Mixed Greens and Beet Salad.

    In The Whole Life Nutrition Cookbook the salad is called Beet and Fennel Salad.
    I eliminated the fennel but fennel lovers will no doubt love this addition to the salad.

    Here is a link to the salad: Mixed Green and Beet Salad.
